Rental FAQ's

Where do I pickup / return hire boats ?
Central location at 41 Vulture street West End (corner Turin street) near West End Primary school.
 
Is a Boat License required?
Yes a boat license is required for all our hire boats. You should ensure that QLD Govt RTA provide you with a hard copy of your licence. Some folk then reduce it and laminate it so that it keeps.

Who is responsible?
the licenced operater outlined on the contract is the responsible party for all aspects of the operation and safety of the boat and all it's occupants.

What is 24 hour hire?
PM to PM (1hr leeway only)

What is Weekend hire?
From lunch time Friday - 6pm Sunday

What is Long Weekend hire?
From lunch time Friday - Tuesday lunchtime

Can the boat sink?
Brisbane Boat Hire Boats are positive floatation compliant - they don't sink.

What areas can the boats be taken to?
All smooth and partially smooth waters as determined by the QLD Govt Maritime SafetyDept and published in the Recreational Boating Safety Handbook. [ summary info ]

Is there insurance and what does it cover?
Yes you pay insurance as part of your hire payment. The hire contract states that a bond is payable for minor mishaps with an excess of $2500 for a major accident in which the hirer is at fault.

Is Fuel included in rental?
Cost of fuel is calculated on return based on refill

Does the boat need to be cleaned?
All boats are to be cleaned (but not flushed) before they are returned. If this is not done then a fee of $40 will be charged.

Are the boats inspected?
Yes - inspections by both parties before departure and after and upon return

How much is the Bond?
Bond ranges from $500 / $1000 depending on ...details are to go here

How is the bond paid?
Bonds are paid for all hire boats and are generally as an open credit card held by the company until the boat is returned washed and undamaged. It is then either destroyed or retained by the hirer. In most instances the bond is returned unused wexcept where there are costs incured by the hirer.
 

Can the boat be taken interstate?
Generally no
